With beef prices at an all-time high and sheds filled with fodder, following the favourable seasons across most of Australia, it has been a pleasure to see so many smiling farmers and hear their passion and excitement as they discuss their future breeding goals with us; as they expand or rebuild the nucleus of their breeding herds.

Never before, has there been so many quality bulls to choose from as the black angus market goes from strength to strength as more and more people are choosing to breed black angus cattle.

Leading the sire groups at Merlewood Angus Annual Bull Sale this year are the sons of Injemira Up River N154. Any one of his sons will put power and performance into your progeny. Highly valued for:

  • Outstanding performance and maternal value
  • Depth of rib and easy fleshing
  • Above average carcasses cutting yields
  • Fabulous fertility and short gestation length

We are excited to see all of the Injemeria Up River N154 progeny being born true to type here at Merlewood Angus. They all have definitely inherited the strong genetic traits of their grandsire Thomas Up River 1614 (fondly known as “Man amongst Boys”) and their granddam Ardrossan Princess W38 (renowned as “One of the queens of Australian Angus”).

Other reference sires of this exceptional cohort of sale bulls are the well-known AI sires Baldridge Command C036, LD Capitalist 316, HA Cowboy Up 5405, Sydgen Enhance, S A V Raindance 6848, Sitz Stellar 736D. A stellar line up of stud sires indeed.

The whole Merlewood Angus Team look forward to welcoming you on sale day as we once again bring leading industry genetics to the Gippsland Breeding Bowl. Please join us from 9am for a leisurely viewing of the penned sale bulls and a wee bite of breakfast – the infamous Lorne sausage sandwiches will be served this year by the local cricket club; and the lorne’s made by our local butcher Craig Young Butchery. It really does take a whole village to have a bull sale!

As always please feel free to contact us on M.0425 862 941 to arrange a private inspection or remote support if you can’t make sale day. Our bull sale will once again be interfaced with AuctionsPlus and for those who prefer Telephone Bidding this can be arranged directly via your stock agent.

Videos of individual bull sale lots can be found on our website prior to auction day – tentative upload date 1 March 2022.

We look forward to welcoming you.

Anne Marie, Daniel, Lucas and Willie
