“For a yearling bull, Tommy Turbo is the ultimate powerhouse” said Mr Barrow. “I had my eye on him from the beginning. He is representative of a Gippsland breeding bull and we agree whole heartedly with breeder, Ross Thompson, that he exhibits tremendous thickness and carcase expression with a lovely soft finish. We are excited to incorporate him into our 2023 spring joining program. He is certainly the whole package and will complement our breeding program very nicely.”

The Barrow family have been investing heavily in genetics this year. With purchases earlier in the year from Circle 8 and Prime Angus. The Circle 8 dams were successful flushed in June of this year and their embryos will be inserted in recipient cows in this year’s spring joining. Next month the Prime Angus females will be flushed and a selection of their embryo’s will also be chosen for the 2023 spring joining program.

“Since arriving on the farm Prime Barwon Q28 has birthed a bull calf – Merlewood Resilient U82 and already he is showing many of his sire, Sitz Resilient 10208 traits. Sitz Resilient is affectionally known as a “low risk – high reward” sire.” shared Mrs Barrow. “It’s crazy but with such a long lead time in breeding, we are already excited for our 2025 bull sale. We have been fortunate to secure all the genetics that we have been chasing this year, and we are always planning 3 years ahead to ensure that we can bring the best genetics to the Gippsland for our clients and fellow farmers. We are so grateful to our client base for their continued confidence in our breeding program.”
